Progress update: getting ready for release
Brake before making sharp turns!

We have some exciting news! We are currently working on the very last fixes and "polishing" for Frontier Companion. As many developers know, the "final" version usually needs a few more "final" fixes before it is truly ready!

Where can you get the app?

We plan to release the app in stages.

Phase 1: The Early Release At first, we will share the app right here on this project page. This is the fastest way for us to get the app into your hands.

Phase 2: Google Play Store: Later, we will publish the app on the Google Play Store. This takes a bit more time because of Google’s official procedures and reviews.

Phase 3: iOS (Apple) We want to bring the app to iPhones too! However, Apple charges a $99 yearly fee to put apps on their store. If we see a lot of interest and support from the community, we will sign up for the Apple Developer Program and release it for iOS.

How the app works

The app is fully offline. You don't need an internet connection to use the encyclopedia or the calculators. However, there is a "Settings" screen with a few helpful links:

  • A link to this blog for news.
  • A form to report bugs or suggest new features.
  • A link to buy us a "coffee" if you want to support our work.

A passion project

This app started because we love Lightyear Frontier. I handle the coding, and my girlfriend is working hard on the interface translations.

We spend our personal time after work to build this. You do not have to pay to use the app—it is a gift to the community. However, if you choose to support us financially, it helps us pay for store fees and keeps us motivated. Even just a few kind words of appreciation mean a lot to us!

We want to make sure this tool truly helps you on your voyage through the stars.

Stay tuned—the first download links are coming very soon!
